He told about 40 members and guests of his experiences working on South Island's Canterbury Plain, growing seed potatoes and specialist seed crops. After three years in New Zealand, he had returned to the family farm last year and was making a number of changes including growing some new crops like radish. The late Nigel Wright - On a late January morning, the sun was shining as the funeral for Stalham farmer Nigel Ivan Wright took place at Holy Trinity Church, Ingham. He died peacefully at home just three days before his 83rd birthday. Tributes were paid by his two sons, Alistair and Ben, and daughter Jess. Two of his grandchildren Kevin and Georgina gave readings. . A long-serving secretary to Stalham Farmers' Club, a former chairman and life vice-president, Mr Wright had held senior regional posts in the National Farmers' Union and served as county chairman as well as being elected to North Norfolk Council and Stalham Town Council. He was laid to rest in the churchyard by the Rev Richard Jackson. Family, friends and club members, many wearing the distinctive blue Stalham hoe tie, later enjoyed a splendid spread arranged by Hannah Deane at the Dairy Barns. At our first meeting in 2022 on Wednesday, February 9, we welcome members of North Walsham Young Farmers' Club as guests to super. Please support our chairman, Chris Borrett, at the supper at North Walsham Rugby Club (Scottow) on Wednesday, February 9 - and please let the secretary know as soon as possible if you'd like to join the meal. I need numbers by close of play, Thursday, February 3, please. Supper costs £10 and will be served about 6.30pm. So, a speedy response would also help our caterers too. Given the challenges facing the pig industry, our menu choice is surely appropriate - roast pork, roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables followed by apple and cherry crumble and custard. Our speaker Tom Harrison will be speaking about farming in New Zealand and returning to head the family's long-established potato enterprise at Trimingham. The meeting starts at 7.30pm.

On other matters Final and absolute last call for grain samples. If they've been sitting in your office, please bring them or let Chris Borrett know that you'd like to enter. Please let the secretary know if you'd like to join the supper. It might be sensible too to take a LFT (Lateral Flow Test). There were touching tributes by the family at the funeral of former club chairman and long-serving secretary Nigel Wright, who was laid to rest in Ingham on Wednesday, January 26. More than 100 attended the service which was taken by the Rev Richard Jackson. Hannah Deane laid on a veritable feast at Dairy Barns which was greatly appreciated.
